Friends of the ABC needs your membership to continue to campaign for the ABC.

The national broadcaster risks losing its independence - through creeping commercialisation and political interference.

In the critical year ahead, the ABC will continue to struggle to maintain even its exisitng level of funding. If funds are not restored and access to new technology guaranteed, the ABC is in danger of being frozen out of the future.

A core cultural and information institution will be lost if the ABC goes down the commercial track. The ABC/s demise would result in a loss in our personal lives. It would have far-reaching ramifications for the society in which we live.

FABC's influence, indeed its very existence, depends on its membership. Only by having thousands upon thousands of members will FABC convince politicians of all political persuasions that Australians want their national public broadcaster to be well-funded, comprehensive and independent.

Friends of the ABC values your support. I urge you to renew your membership now. We can no longer afford to keep lapsed members on our mailing list for any length of time. And if you could ask one other person to join the Friends, it would give an enormous boost to our campaign.
