The saga over Australia’s international television service
has ended. Senator Conroy, Minister for Communications,
has announced that AN will become a permanent ABC service.

Since Friends of the ABC wrote to the ABC, the ABC has
promised to include only one television production studio
in its Victorian redevelopment - in place of three existing
studios which will be lost. It has given no commitment to
meaningful levels of ABC in-house production.
